Children’s Day Care Center in Prishtina and Prizren

The Day Care Center

The Children’s Day Care Center in Prishtina has been operating since November 4, 2019. This was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Terre des hommes – Kosovo and the Municipality of Prishtina. Meanwhile, the Children’s Day Center in Prizren was opened in October 2023 by Terre des hommes in partnership with the Municipality of Prizren.

These Centers provide a warm and friendly environment where children feel safe. They are based on our specialized service model for children in street situations, those who are victims of sexual abuse, as well as other children in need of protection.

At the these Day Centers, services are provided on a daily basis. Each child chooses the services or activities they wish to participate in. The Centers aim to offer services that meet the basic needs of the child and their family.

This model simultaneously provides access to information for service providers and helps build trust between service providers and beneficiaries. It also serves as a bridge connecting children with the protection system and public services such as education, healthcare, psychosocial support, and more.

The services offered include nutritious meals, playtime, educational and psychosocial activities, career counseling, positive parenting sessions, as well as coordination in case management.

The Center’s staff consists of social workers, psychologists, a mobile outreach team, support teachers, the center coordinator, and an assistant.

The Children’s Day Center significantly contributes to the child protection system by investing in and supporting children in need of services.
